Tracking the COVID-19 Pandemic with Cellphones

Danielle Miller Olofsson, Chief Privacy and Knowledge Officer at BCF, spoke with La Presse about the work of research teams consisting in monitoring the progress of the pandemic using cellphone GPS.

“Several privacy specialists consulted by La Presse have been very cautious about the promise of rapid development of these technologies. ‘The big question is what will be done with the use of this data. It is imperative that it shall be used only in the specific context of the crisis and that it shall be deleted within 24 hours of its use’, said Lawyer Danielle Olofsson, Chief Privacy Officer at BCF."
