François Lefebvre joined BCF in 2001 as a founding member of the Quebec City office. As a partner in the business, commercial and corporate law team, Mr. Lefebvre advises and works with entrepreneurs on the negotiation and drafting of commercial agreements, such as shareholder and partner agreements, distribution agreements, commercial leases and service agreements, as well as on their corporate needs.
A member of the firm’s Business Succession strategic team, Mr. Lefebvre is involved in purchase or sale of business transactions, whether in the context of a transfer within the family, a management buy-out or involving outside parties. He also advises entrepreneurs on the implementation of employee profit-sharing plans, such as stock option plans.
Finally, Mr. Lefebvre is a member of the Banking and Financing Law strategic team, in connection with which he regularly works on traditional or subordinated financing transactions.
Mr. Lefebvre serves clients from a variety of sectors, including computer science, biotechnology, manufacturing and industries, banking, restaurants, real-estate and retail.
For more than 15 years, Mr. Lefebvre has been a trainer and speaker for Entrepreneuriat Laval (a business incubator at Université Laval) on various topics regarding business start-ups (particularly the legal vehicles for a business, shareholder agreements and contracts). He also regularly gives conferences on business succession in a family context or a management buy-out. Finally, Mr. Lefebvre has been a trainer for many years for Centre de formation et de création d’entreprises for the Capitale-nationale School Board.
Mr. Lefebvre sits on the board of Entrepreneuriat Laval. Mr. Lefebvre is a jury member for a number of competitions, including the Quebec entrepreneurship competition.
Mr. Lefebvre represents the firm at the Centre de transfert d’entreprises de la Capitale-Nationale (CTE), an organization devoted to sensitizing entrepreneurs to the idea of business succession. In addition to sitting on CTE’s Round Table and the Marketing Committee, he regularly acts as spokesperson.
Finally, Mr. Lefebvre has been a director of Productions Les Gros Becs, a major youth and children’s theatre production company, for more than 10 years. He has also served as corporate secretary of a venture capital investment fund.
