Superior Court of Québec Addresses Reasonableness of Municipal Bylaws
Our municipal law partner Isabelle Landry spoke to The Lawyer's Daily about a case that she and our lawyer Audrey-Anne Béland successfully pleaded before the Superior Court of Québec.
The ruling establishes the limits within which a municipality can regulate hunting on its territory. "Municipalities have jurisdiction over security, order and good government, and that’s what the municipality in this case relied on but it cannot be in conflict with federal legislation or provincial hunting regulations, and it must not be unreasonable," notes Isabelle Landry. "That's what this ruling is about."
