Camil Chaput is a lawyer in BCF's Tax Group. He advises companies on international and corporate taxation, focussing on technical issues related to cross-border mergers and acquisitions, internal reorganizations and tax planning for multinational companies.
Thanks to several years' experience with a major accounting firm, Camil has an in-depth expertise in analyzing and managing the complex tax issues facing businesses of all sizes.
Prior to joining BCF, Camil also worked at the Canada Revenue Agency, first in the Income Tax Rulings Directorate and then in the International, Large Corporations and Investigations Branch, where he helped develop the CRA's tax policy and acted as a specialist in tax audits. Camil has also acted as a law clerk in the Tax Court of Canada.
Furthermore, Camil teaches the Taxation and Decision Making course in the Master of Taxation program at Université de Sherbrooke, where he shares his passion and expertise in tax reorganization and planning.
Known for his technical thoroughness and his ability to offer innovative and practical solutions, Camil is a key contact for companies seeking to navigate the complex framework of Canadian taxation and maximize the efficiency of their operations and their domestic and international tax structures.

- Acted on behalf of public and private companies in M&A transactions, including leveraged buyouts, spin-off transactions, butterfly transactions, hybrid buyouts, tuck-under transactions and triangular mergers;
- Acted on behalf of public and private companies in the transport and logistics, automotive aftermarket distribution, agri-food and precious metals royalty sectors in corporate reorganizations aimed at simplifying and optimizing their tax structure;
- Acted on behalf of public corporations, wealthy families and investment funds before the Canada Revenue Agency in obtaining advance rulings on corporate reorganizations, restructurings and estate planning;
- Acted on behalf of multinational corporations in the process of refinancing and consolidating their debt instruments in order to maximize their tax efficiency in light of their business objectives;
- Acted on behalf of public and private companies in the development and implementation of corporate structures to facilitate the expansion of their foreign operations, including the optimization of the tax cost of repatriating foreign profits to Canada;
- Acted on behalf of a global leader in the accommodation and mobility industry before the Canada Revenue Agency in the objection process related to international tax audits;
- Acted on behalf of public and private companies in the establishment, maintenance, migration and dismantling of international financing structures;
- Acted on behalf of public and private companies in the development and implementation of their employee incentive and talent acquisition plans.
