Based in our Québec City office, Bénédicte St-Gelais’ practice focuses on civil and commercial litigation, mainly in construction and insurance law, as well as in professional liability. She also handles access to information cases and has acquired strong skills in bidding process, particularly for the public and parapublic sectors.
Furthermore, Bénédicte assists various companies on improving their ethics and governance methods. She was also part of a healthcare institution’s legal department, where she gained experience in healthcare law.

Representative Work
- Represented a consortium of architects and the Fonds d’assurance de la responsabilité professionnelle de l'Ordre des architectes du Québec in a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against professionals and contractors involved in a project to expand the Centre hospitalier de l’Université Laval;
- Acted as counsel of consulting engineering firms, laboratories and architectural offices in professional liability claims;
- Acted as counsel for material suppliers, subcontractors, contractors, owners and professionals in claims in the construction industry (public and private);
- Acted as counsel for the Direction de la santé publique de la Capitale-Nationale in a public inquiry on the causes and circumstances of deaths related to the legionellosis outbreak in Québec City in the summer of 2012.
