Sleep Wellness: Good Sleep, Better Health
Thursday, June 17th from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Thursday, August 26th from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Tony Ho has a Master’s in Social Work, is an experienced therapist and a member of the Canadian Sleep Society.
Good sleep makes everything better but is so elusive for many of us (nearly one in every three Canadian adults!). In this signature workshop, we’ll build an evidence-based toolkit of strategies to help you quiet your mind and learn how to get a good night’s sleep regularly. Controlled research trials demonstrate that the treatment of sleep problems improves work performance, reduces the risk of injuries at work, and eases symptoms of numerous conditions that can affect your quality of life, such as depression or anxiety.
In this workshop, you will:
- Learn why prioritizing healthy sleep is key for overall physical and mental health
- Learn about insomnia and the three key things that can help them fall asleep faster, stay asleep, and wake up feeling refreshed
- Have an opportunity to complete a screening for potential sleep disorders and access resources to address symptoms of insomnia

Dr. Thanh Dang-Vu is a neurologist, researcher and director of the Sleep, Cognition and Neuroimaging Laboratory (SCNLab) at the Centre de recherche de l'Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal (CRIUGM) and the Perform Centre at Concordia University. He is also Vice President (Research) at the Sleep Society of Canada, and his work focuses on the mechanisms of sleep disorders and the role of sleep in cognitive health.
Sleep impacts many areas of our health, both physical and mental, and how we function during the day. And whether it's wearing a mask, social distancing or teleworking, the pandemic is also being felt when we sleep.
Taking care of your sleep also means taking care of your personal and professional life, your ability to socialize and remain productive. And of course, taking care of yourself is also taking care of others.

During this pandemic, it is essential to equip ourselves to prevent exhaustion, maximize mental health and support our teams' psychological capital of resilience. To protect our mental health, give more meaning to our work, and maintain a high quality of professional relationships in these times of great uncertainty, it is essential to recognize the threats of a brain trapped under new tensions.
A dynamic conference that offers tools and concrete examples to tame our negative emotions and recharge our inner battery.

Guillaume Dulude has a doctorate in neuropsychology and has been teaching communication psychology, relational skills and leadership development for 15 years. A true one-man band, he also speaks 9 languages and is an airplane pilot, among his many other talents.
As host of the "Tribal" show, he has combined his three passions: adventure travel, people and communication. Authenticity is the key to establishing a first contact with a nomadic tribe, whether in Kyrgyzstan or Mongolia. Off screen, he has tested and confirmed the effectiveness of his methods in nearly 100 countries.
Guillaume has a scientific approach, a universal vision and a fascinating background. When it comes to resilience, his singular approach will resonate with everyone: "Resilience is the ability to find opportunities when no one else sees them. Understanding the relevant human mechanisms and how to reach a high level of consciousness are essential to building one's own resilience.
The Resilience Toolbox: How to Build a Resilient Mindset
Thursday, September 23rd from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Kevin Rempel is a 2013 World Champion and 2014 Sochi Paralympic bronze medalist in sledge hockey, who has an incredible story of overcoming a tremendous amount of adversity.
Paralyzed after a motocross crash in 2006, Kevin had to face unsurmountable odds while learning to walk again at the age of 23.
Adding to this, Kevin’s father Gerry had an accident that left him a complete paraplegic one year from retirement. Unfortunately, Gerry couldn’t deal with living with his circumstances and took his own life in July 2007. That following year, “Remps” as he likes to be called by his friends, found sledge hockey and set his sights on making Team Canada and playing in the Paralympics.
Now retired, he has travelled and inspired people around the world.
It can be easy for fear to stray us from guiding principles that help create the resilience we need to thrive during times of uncertainty. Despite what may be happening around us, we all have the ability to focus on our mindset and what we can control to create the belief system we need to be resilient and consistently rise to the occasion.
Kevin Rempel takes you through the strategies and techniques he used to overcome paralysis, learn how to walk again, cope with isolation during his four year recovery period, and ultimately help Canada earn a bronze medal at the 2014 Paralympics in Sochi, Russia.
