Significant Compensation Obtained by BCF in An Expropriation Case
The City of Baie-Saint-Paul expropriated a strip of land to extend a public road and provide access to pedestrian paths.
This strip of land divided a resident's forest land in two, resulting in extensive damage affecting the method of exploitation of his land. The City of Baie-Saint-Paul did not offer to compensate these various incidental damages.
In connection of this expropriation, a BCF team composed of Isabelle Landry and Audrey-Anne Béland won the case for the resident and obtained an amount 10 times higher in damages than the amount initially offered in compensation.
