Léonie Brais Laporte is a lawyer in our Business Law Group in our Montréal office and practices primarily in mergers and acquisitions, corporate law, drafting commercial contracts, business strategies and governance.
In addition to her double diploma in civil law and common law from McGill University, Léonie also holds a certificate in ESG investing awarded by the CFA Institute. Léonie is recognized for her pragmatic vision and business acumen. Listening and a thorough understanding of business issues are at the heart of her legal recommendations.
Since joining BCF over ten years ago, she has supported companies of all sizes in various stages of their growth, including incorporation, negotiation of shareholder agreements, setting up financing, introducing employee incentive plans, and the sale and purchase of assets. Léonie has led numerous major merger and acquisition transactions, representing investment funds in the acquisition of strategic interests, as well as entrepreneur sellers in transactions impacting several future generations.
Interested in complex governance issues, Léonie has also been called upon to advise major non-profit organizations in education and waste management. Léonie has also advised real estate developers and real estate investors on commercial matters and corporate reorganizations.
