Recognized in construction and real estate development law in Quebec, Jean-François Dagenais is a partner and lawyer in BCF’s Litigation group. Leveraging a practical and proactive approach, he brilliantly assists many entrepreneurs in reviewing, interpreting and negotiating contracts, especially for large-scale real estate and construction projects, in addition to pleading before the court in construction and real estate litigation matters. He treats our clients as if he were part of their company.

Jean-François' specific expertise has been recognized many times over the years. He was included in The Best Lawyers in Canada's list in Construction Law, from 2015 to 2021 and has been recognized by Lexpert as a Leading Canadian Lawyer in Construction Law, from 2014 to 2020. He regularly gives conferences on topics relating to construction law, most notably for the Canadian Institute, Open Forum and business associations. He is also called upon to train directly by our clients.

Jean-François was actively involved in the Corporation des entrepreneurs généraux du Québec (CEGQ), sitting on its Board of Directors for more than 11 years. He was also a member on the Board of the Association québécoise des entrepreneurs en infrastructure (AQEI) and chaired the AQEI’s Training Committee. Having served for several years on BCF’s Board of Directors, he is now the partner responsible for the firm’s continuing legal education program (BCF Campus) as well as for the Conflict of Interest Committee.
