Mario Welsh Awarded the Honorary Distinction of Emeritus Lawyer
We are pleased to announce that our partner Mario Welsh has been appointed Advocatus Emeritus, that is, Emeritus Lawyer by Barreau du Québec (the province’s bar association).
The honorary distinction of Emeritus Lawyer is awarded each year by the Québec bar association to members who excel in their career, champion their profession, and make an outstanding and impactful contribution to the legal field within their social circles and the community as a whole.
Mario Welsh is a renowned lawyer in civil and commercial litigation, construction law, and professional liability. He has appeared before all federal and provincial courts, from the Court of Québec to the Supreme Court of Canada as well as numerous administrative tribunals. Mario, who is a member of the BCF board of directors, joined our firm in 2014 and served as the partner in charge of the Québec City office until 2023.
Mario also excels in a number of other areas of the law, including class actions. He has been involved in some of the most important litigation cases in Canadian history, including the pyrrhotite case in Trois-Rivières, and has represented major organizations, including Loto-Québec, Hydro-Québec and Autorité des marchés financiers.
In addition, Mario is a very active member of the Québec City business community. For the past several years, he has been chairman of the board at Les Violons du Roy, which is attached to Chapelle de Québec, and he supports the development of emerging musicians and the democratization of music through projects for youths and the wider community.
Congratulations, Mario, for this prestigious award!
