Corporate Financing Strategic Forum

On February 19, 2019, our Corporate Financing Strategic Forum was held simultaneously in Montreal and Quebec City. From SME financing to going public: promising growth ideas in the medium-sized enterprise market were discussed.

Our guest speakers, Pierre Fitzgibbon, Minister of Economy and Innovation, Mitch Garber, President of Invest in Canada and Chairman of Cirque du Soleil and economist and Co-Chair of Venture Capital Catalyst Initiative, Gilles Duruflé, shared their thoughts on various financing strategies and the issues involved in corporate financing during a panel led by Yves Séguin, former Minister of Finance. In addition, Stephen Pincus, Partner at Goodmans and Head of its Capital Market practice, and Craig King, Managing Director, Capital Markets of National Bank Financial, guided us through obtaining new means of financing through Special Purpose Acquisition Companies (SPACs).

Reunited in Montreal and Quebec, over 230 influential decision-makers and business leaders from the public and private sectors, institutional funds and investment banks, along with securities brokers and entrepreneurs, were on site to engage in discussion and generate promising ideas for growth in the medium-sized enterprise market: alternatives to investment and venture capital financing as well as securities, going-public, and tax policy.

Only 7% of Canadian public companies are based in Quebec, even though the province has a 23% share of the country’s GDP. Join market actors who are involved in retaining Quebec’s corporate head offices to build bigger consolidators for businesses and our economy's growth.
