Good AI Capital: the First Silicon Valley-Based Venture Fund to Settle in Québec
MONTRÉAL, October 31, 2018 - BCF law firm congratulates its client Good AI Capital, a venture fund focused on investments in ethically-responsible artificial intelligence, which is opening up a sister office in Montréal.
"It is fantastic news for our great businesses and among Québec investors in the AI industry! Having been chosen by Good AI Capital to assist them in establishing their new office in Québec and in their subsequent investments, is a testament to the international scope of BCF, to the expertise of our teams and to the impressive growth of the artificial intelligence movement in the Montréal ecosystem," stated Mireille Fontaine, Business Law partner, member of the Board of Directors and Co-Head of the Venture Capital Group at BCF.
The presence of premier research centers such as IVADO (Institute for Data Valorisation) and MILA (Montreal Institute for Learning Algorithms) and of world-class entrepreneurship programs convinced Good AI Capital to expand with a second location in Montréal. The new office will be headed by Milad Alucozai, a founding partner at Good AI Capital, who will relocate from San Francisco.
This is the first time that a Silicon Valley fund has established itself in Québec and the second time in Canada, following the launch of Salesforce Ventures in Toronto.
