Renaud Garon Gendron is an intellectual property lawyer in the Montréal office. His practice focuses primarily on patent, trademark and copyright litigation, as well as issues relating to trademark availability, registration and enforcement, including opposition and expungement proceedings.

Renaud is recognized for his ability to develop strategies that are at once creative, rigorous and effective in advancing and protecting his clients’ rights. Whether he is involved in a complex dispute, mitigating legal risk or addressing issues with significant technical, commercial or digital dimensions, he prioritizes practical, targeted solutions aligned with his clients’ objectives.

Renaud is involved in all aspects of intellectual property litigation before the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal and the Superior Court of Québec. He also has particular experience in enforcing his clients’ rights online and on e-commerce platforms, where speed of action, strategic judgment and creative solutions often make a decisive difference.

Renaud also advises clients on intellectual property matters in the context of mergers and acquisitions. In this capacity, he participates in due diligence reviews of intellectual property assets, a variety of commercial agreements and transaction documents, in addition to drafting and reviewing commercial agreements.

Prior to joining the firm, Renaud practised with an international law firm, where he represented leading companies across a range of industries, including sporting goods, clean technology, consumer products, personal care, food and beverage, alcohol, software and emerging technologies.

Renaud is also a lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the Université de Sherbrooke, where he teaches intellectual property.
