Oleksiy Malashenko is a partner and patent agent specializing in the strategic development and management of Intellectual Property (IP) across various high-tech sectors. His expertise spans North America, Europe, and Asia, and focuses on patent strategies and procurement.

Oleksiy serves on the firm’s executive AI and IT committees, playing a crucial role in integrating AI-assisted tools and IT solutions. Additionally, he co-leads business operations within the patent department.

His practice is centered on AI-powered products and services. He crafted and executed IP strategies for cutting-edge technologies such as self-driving cars, robotic drones, intelligent personal assistants, and medical devices, resulting in large multi-jurisdictional patent families.

Oleksiy’s experience has significantly impacted business outcomes through comprehensive IP audits and the development of tailored IP strategies. He co-managed a sizeable patent portfolio in the field of search engines and social network technologies, resulting in a cross-licensing agreement with a major U.S. tech corporation. He is regularly involved in financing and acquisition matters involving sizeable patent portfolios. Oleksiy reinforced his expertise in corporate IP strategy by completing secondments at a major European tech conglomerate providing products and services underpinned by AI.

He previously completed a bachelor’s degree in engineering physics at École Polytechnique de Montréal and conducted research at the Functional Coatings and Surface Engineering Laboratory.

As a dedicated advocate for professional development, Oleksiy provides regular training for legal counsel and lectures at start-up accelerators, focusing on the strategic integration of AI and IP assets to foster innovation and secure competitive advantages in the marketplace.
