The Articling recruitment period
A bit of context
- What is the Articling recruitment period?
The Course aux stages is an annual recruitment process through which participating law firms hire future Bar articling students according to a common schedule. It is primarily intended for second- and third-year law students. Under the Recruitment Agreement, first-year students are not yet eligible to participate in the recruitment process.
Why does recruitment take place so early? There are still several steps to complete before your articling placement begins, including finishing your law degree and attending the Québec Bar School. At BCF, recruited students also have the opportunity to join us for a summer student term before beginning their articling placement.
- The Montréal and Québec Recruitment Agreements
The Recruitment Agreement sets out the common rules governing the Course aux stages, including the application period, interviews, when offers may be made and response deadlines. Its purpose is to ensure a fair recruitment process for all candidates.
The portal will be open from January 29, 2027, at 9 a.m. to February 1, 2027, at 5 p.m. Interviews will take place in March, according to the schedule established under the applicable Recruitment Agreement.
The Course aux stages is governed by two separate Recruitment Agreements: one for Montréal and one for Québec City.
