Anne-Frédérique Bourret specialises in administrative and regulatory law, particularly in connection with the environment, energy, climate change, mining activities, natural resources, land-use planning, agriculture, cannabis, and access to information. In this capacity, she advises clients who are seeking to conduct a merger, conclude a financing transaction, or sign a commercial lease about matters related to the obtaining of permits, environmental assessment processes, ongoing activities, the discovery of contaminants, neighbourhood disputes and changes in land use, as well as the cessation of designated activities, the rehabilitation of contaminated property, the management of atmospheric emissions, wastewater or dangerous materials that pose a risk to the environment and all other environmental issues. Since 2018, she is recognised by her peers in the Best Lawyers in Canada rankings for her Environmental Law expertise.

She also represents clients who are undergoing negotiations with authorities in charge of protecting the environment and in the framework of environmental disputes before the courts and administrative tribunals.

  • Advised a Canadian corporation that offers solid and liquid waste management and land decontamination services regarding the environmental and regulatory aspects related to the acquisition of certain assets and in connection with its ongoing activities; 
  • Acted for a sizeable infrastructure project to provide legal advice about environmental aspects provided to the Government of Canada surrounding the establishment of the structure and of a public-private partnership; 
  • Advised a Quebec paper company on various environmental aspects related to the sale of certain assets required for the manufacturing and transformation of cardboard; 
  • Advised a wind power project developer on various legal issues regarding the environmental aspects related to the development of certain wind power projects; 
  • Advised a construction company on various environmental law aspects involved in the acquisition of certain assets;
  • Drafted and negotiated representations, guarantees and environmental commitments involved in agreements related to commercial operations such as mergers and acquisitions, the sale of shares or assets, financing operations, and commercial leases.
