American Immigration: I-9 Inspections result in fines for 14 New England Companies
August 29th, 2011The battle against illegal immigration in the U.S. is intensifying. ICE press release announced that 14 New England companies have been fined in FY2011 after I-9 inspections uncovered various violations that enabled the companies to hire undocumented workers.
Fines in the New England region include :
-Jasper Wyman & Son, accounted for $118,000 of the fine settlements;
-Commercial Cleaning Service was ordered to pay a $100,000 fine; and
-D'Agostino Associates, Inc., was fined $22,792.
Nationally, from fiscal year 2009 to date, ICE has initiated Form I-9 inspections against nearly 4,000 businesses resulting in fines of nearly $7 million.
