Professional background

Robert Korne is a partner in the firm’s Taxation Group since 2006. Mr. Korne's practice focuses on taxation and estate planning. He specializes in domestic and international taxation, including asset and share transactions, business start-ups, corporate reorganizations, cross-border structures, transfers of family businesses as well as succession planning. He is a member of the firm’s Wealth Protection Team and Business Transfer Team. Mr. Korne regularly advises Canadian, US and foreign private, public and institutional entities on various complex tax related issues.

In recent years, Mr. Korne's area of specialization has expanded to include Canadian banking regulatory matters. Mr. Korne advises clients on various aspects of structuring their investments, bank compliance and reporting matters as well as assisting clients in communicating with the Canadian bank regulator (OSFI).
