Professional background

Jean-François Dagenais specializes in construction law. He regularly appears before the courts in cases involving commercial law, real estate law and extraordinary recourses. He also has solid experience in alternative dispute resolution methods. Often called upon to fulfill the role of external in-house counsel, he responds to the requests of clients who ask him to revise, interpret and negotiate contracts relating to their business, especially for substantial real estate projects.

Mr. Dagenais is also involved in public-private partnership (PPP) projects in the health sector and, under the auspices of the CEGQ, actively participates in amendments to the regulations governing the construction industry through consultations with the Conseil du Trésor du Québec.

Mr. Dagenais served for 10 years as a Corporate Secretary and member of both the Board and Executive Committee of the Corporation des Entrepreneurs Généraux du Québec (CEGQ).

Since he started practicing, Mr. Dagenais has given many conferences on topics relating to construction law for the Canadian Institute, for Insight and in connection with the Développements récents en droit de la construction training program of the Barreau du Québec.
