Professional background

Etienne Retson Brisson joined BCF’s Montreal office in 2008. He was called to the Barreau du Québec in 2010. He holds a Bachelor’s of Law from Université Laval, and studied American law at the University of Louisville (United States) and political science at the University of Alberta. He also holds an LL.M. in banking and finance law from the University of Luxembourg where he was awarded scholarships for academic excellence.

As well, Mr. Retson Brisson clerked at the Tax Court of Canada in 2010-2011 and articled with the Honourable Justice Robert Hogan.

Mr. Retson Brisson participated in the Pierre-Basile Mignault moot court competition, where he pleaded before three justices of the Supreme Court of Canada and distinguished himself by winning the Canadian Bar Cup and the Yvon Blais Editions Cup.

Mr. Retson Brisson has always enjoyed contributing to his professional and academic organizations. He served as President of Master’s Students (banking and finance section) and was also a founding member and Vice-President (Seminars & Conferences) of the European Law Students' Association (ELSA Luxembourg).

Active in his community, he has developed a plan to import eco-sensitive products in Canada, and has also participated in several partisan and non-partisan political organizations.
