Ethics and lawyers ethics committees in hospital settings
March 30th, 2012Seminar date: October 12, 2012
For the past several decades, the introduction of numerous technological innovations has resulted in a further burgeoning of the scientific field. This phenomenon has also been felt in the field of medical research, which has recently reached new summits, becoming more international, collaborative and multidisciplinary.
There are currently a number of initiatives aimed at providing a framework for the ethical evaluation of medical research as well as the conduct of the researchers involved, including the Tri-Council Policy Statement (2010) and the Tri-Agency Framework: Responsible Conduct of Research (2011). The following topics will be addressed at the seminar:
- Ethics committees: Roles, limits and challenges
- The lawyer's role on these committees (clinical/research)
- Normative tools available to Québec lawyers
The seminar will be presented by BCF counsel Bartha Maria Knoppers, October 12 at our Montreal office and by videoconference at our Quebec city office. It will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and a lunch will be served as of 12:00 p.m.
To register, please e-mail us at FormationBCF@bcf.ca or call 514 397-6905. This seminar will give you 1½ hours of CLE credits accredited by the Barreau du Québec.
