The vienna convention on the international sale of goods: should it be set aside with a contractual clause?
March 30th, 2012Seminar date: May 31, 2012
It is often said that the Vienna Convention on the International Sale of Goods is an acceptable compromise for the various contracting parties. This seminar will consider whether this premise is accurate and whether or not it may be appropriate to set aside the Convention through a contractual clause.
The following are some of the topics that will be discussed:
- Internal and external gaps in the Convention
- The Convention and the definition of sale
- The problem of documentary sales and the right to reject documents
- The role of commercial practices and their relationship to the Convention
The seminar will be presented by the Associate Dean (Graduate Studies) of the Faculty of Law of Université de Montréal Guy Lefebvre, May 31 at our Montreal office and by videoconference at our Quebec city office. It will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and a lunch will be served as of 12:00 p.m.
To register, please e-mail us at FormationBCF@bcf.ca or call 514 397-6699, ext. 3496. This seminar will give you 1½ hours of CLE credits accredited by the Barreau du Québec.
