The commercial lease
February 1st, 2012Seminar date: May 10, 2012
The commercial lease is a major expense item for many businesses and an important source of income for a property owner. In this context, it is essential to negotiate a commercial lease. In our presentation on commercial leases, we review the main points not to be overlooked during the negotiation of a commercial lease, and we consider the points of view of the lessor and the lessee to provide a clear perspective on negotiation issues. We will focus in particular on the following concepts:
- Type of lease: gross vs. net
- Operating costs
- Repairs and replacements
- The renewal option
- The covenant of quiet enjoyment
- The green lease
- Publication of the lease
The seminar will be presented by BCF lawyer Dave Waddell, May 10 at our Montreal office and by videoconference at our Quebec city office. It will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and a lunch will be served as of 12:00 p.m.
To register, please e-mail us at FormationBCF@bcf.ca or call 514 397-6699, ext. 3496. This seminar will give you 1½ hours of CLE credits accredited by the Barreau du Québec.
