Environmental liability of the business its management and its employees

February 1st, 2012

Seminar date: April 24, 2012

Since the amendment of the Environment Quality Act on October 4, 2011, corporate management must review its management of environmental risks. Corporate directors and officers are now presumed guilty of offences committed by the corporation.

The Act created administrative monetary penalties that take the form of tickets issued on the spot for a number of offences.

New powers to make orders have been conferred and new recourses created, and providing evidence thereof has been facilitated.

  • What means of defence are available to us?
  • How can we avoid environmental responsibility?
  • How should we structure a company?

The seminar will be presented by BCF lawyer Odette Nadon, April 24 at our Montreal office and by videoconference at our Quebec city office. It will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and a lunch will be served as of 12:00 p.m.

To register, please e-mail us at FormationBCF@bcf.ca or call 514 397-6699, ext. 3496. This seminar will give you 1½ hours of CLE credits accredited by the Barreau du Québec.
