Consequences for a business of the incapacity of an officer or a shareholder

February 1st, 2012

Seminar date: May 17, 2012

Using case studies, the speakers will identify the issue and the steps to take in these circumstances. For example, they will address:

  • the impact of the incapacity on the business’ operations during the waiting period specified by the shareholder agreement (usually 9–12 months);
  • ways to reconcile the monetary interests of the incapacitated person and his or her family with the sound financial health of the business (especially in the case of a majority shareholder without a successor).

They will offer solutions for protecting the incapacitated person, his or her family, and the joint shareholders.

The seminar will be presented by BCF notaries Natasha Girouard and Julie Loranger, May 17 at our Montreal office. It will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and a lunch will be served as of 12:00 p.m.

To register, please e-mail us at FormationBCF@bcf.ca or call 514 397-6699, ext. 3496. This seminar will give you 1½ hours of CLE credits accredited by the Barreau du Québec.
