Québec Society of Comparative Law's 2010 Seminar
Babak Barin, co-head of the dispute resolution team, will be a speaker at this symposium which will take place on March 19. He will address issues such as arbitration rendered in statutory arbitrations, private clauses and the particularities of the enforcement of arbitral awards in Quebec.

Conference on Arbitration in Quebec
Babak Barin and Vikki Andrighetti will be speakers at this event which will take place on May 12 at Hotel Opus. The speakers will discuss many subjects related to arbitration: is it always the best way to deal with commercial disputes, what are the advantages and downsides of using arbitration, international and domestic arbitration. The Hon. J.J. Michel Robert, juge en chef du Québec will be the keynote speaker. The course is accredited for 5 hours with the Barreau du Québec under its continuing education program. The second issue of the BCF Arbitration Reporter is dedicated to the enforcement and annulment of arbitral awards in Canada. Éric Ouimet and Frédéric Côté discuss the UNCITRAL Model Law adoption process by the provinces and at the federal level, comment on the differences among the enforcement and annulment regimes which were created in consequence, and identify their practical impacts.
