BCF to host the 1st edition of the Startup Innovation Forum

MONTREAL, February 1, 2018 – The first edition of the Startup Innovation Forum took place on Thursday February 1st, with the topic of urban mobility as its theme. On this occasion, a number of players from the innovation, technologies and transport sectors met in order to propose agile solutions for urban mobility to the political and economic decision makers assembled at the conference.

The event was kicked off with a speech by Valérie Plante, mayor of Montréal. This was followed by a discussion panel led by Damien Silès, Executive Director of the Quartier de l’innovation, which featured Lidia Divry, Executive Officer of TechnoMontréal, Thomas Martinuzzo, Senior Innovation Investment Advisor at the Fonds de solidarité FTQ, Violaine Des Rosiers, Executive Co-director of the Maison de l’innovation sociale, Sam Vermette, Co-Founder and CEO of Transit App, and Sarah Houde, Executive Director of the Quebec Industrial Cluster for Electric + Smart Vehicles.

After a brief discussion with Richard Chénier, Director General of CENTECH about the young tech firm environment, seven promising startups presented their innovative technological solutions to meet the needs identified by the transport sector and urban mobility. These firms were: Netllift, SmartHalo, Ecotuned, Global LiFi, Technologies OPA Inc., Busbud and Valegoo.

On this day, the key players in the innovation sector in Montréal have mobilized to find solutions to a major challenge facing both companies and the public alike: urban mobility. BCF is honored to have hosted this Forum and to have taken part in organizing it along with this collective of leaders. This further indicates yet again how deeply integrated we are in the entrepreneurial ecosystem”, said Mario Charpentier, Managing Partner of BCF, after the meeting.

Borne of the initiative of a collective that brings together le Quartier de l’innovation, CENTECH, TechnoMontréal, Deloitte, BCF and TACT intelligence-conseil, the objective of the Startup Innovation Forum is to assemble the key players in the startup ecosystem in connection with innovation. With the theme of urban mobility, the first edition of the Forum was launched on February 1, 2018.
