BCF obtains favourable decision in the Superior Court
November 8th, 2010November 4th,2010 BCF obtained, from the Superior Court of Quebec, Commercial Division for the district of Montreal, orders pursuant to Part XIII of the Bankruptcy and Insolvencyy Act recognizing foreign bankruptcy proceedings in Canada. Thanks to these recognition orders, two Icelandic banks will be able to continue their restructuring efforts while their Canadian assets remain protected by law. These are two of the first orders of this nature rendered in Canada under Part XIII of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act which came into force at the end of 2009. Bertrand Giroux, Robert Korne and Kristian Zimmerman acted on behalf of the banks.
